Portraits of the Bowerman Babes
Feb 3, 2018 | Colorado Springs, CO
I'm so incredibly pumped to post these images on here. It was a long time coming to set this shoot up and I can't be happier with how they turned out.
Quick backstory- I met Colleen Quigley during summer of '16 at the Olympic Trials in Oregon. We kept in touch and I had this idea of creating a photo story of them (Bowerman Track Club) during their month altitude training. Two years later they end up going to Colorado Springs to mix things up and I just so happen to have interviewed fellow photographer, Aaron Anderson, who is based there. Aaron was supremely gracious enough to not only host me, but to grant me full access to his studio and gear.
In addition to the day to day behind the scenes of the training group, we get three of the seven women to come down from Woodland Park for a few hours to shoot in the studio. Aaron has these amazing hand painted canvases from @gravitybackdrops and an arsenal of @elinchrome_ltd strobes and modifiers to make great stuff happen.
We spent a 2-3 hours on two lighting setups with three women. The first was with two @gravitybackdrops at a 90 is degree angle and one Rotalux light overhead left. The other setup included a three light setup up where we used this monster octobank as the backdrop, a 3 ft vertical strip to camera left and the same Rotalux camera right overhead.
